£2.62 is how much I paid for a pint of Holt's Bitter in the Crown & Anchor, Manchester this week. There are still many pubs in the North West cheaper than this. For instance the nearby Micro Bar in the Arndale Centre has beers at £2.30 a pint. Sam Smith's prices are creeping up too. Has David Cameron been having a word or two?
Holts has been neither particularly cheap nor particularly bitter for quite a long time now.
ReplyDeleteStill only £2.15 a pint in the Griffin, Heaton Mersey. Holts seem to charge prices reflecting the local "norm" in their refurbished pubs.
ReplyDeleteHolts has taken over two pubs in Southport. The first, the Richmond, was very cheap for a while, them prices went up to the local average. The second was never cheap.
ReplyDeleteIf you're dumb enough to buy it at that price, they'll sell it to you.
ReplyDeleteSince I wrote this post the Cock & Pullet in Birkenhead has reduced the price of its house beer Golden Ale, brewed by Phoenix to £2.00/pint. Bargain!
